(Sept. 28, 2021) – The USMMA women's volleyball team took on their bitter Skyline Conference rival Mount St. Vincent on Tuesday night at the Liebertz Gymnasium and came out on top of the Dolphins, 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-18), to improve to 9-3 (3-1 Skyline) on the season, while CMSV fell to 7-6 (1-2 Skyline) with the setback.

Senior
Taylor Gilbertson (Phoenix, Ariz.) led all players on the night with 13 kills on a .550 hitting percentage (13k-2e-20ta) and tied for the match-high with nine digs. Junior
Paige Smith (Virginia Beach, Va.) chipped in with 11 kills on a .391 clip, and senior
Sierra Steffen (Encinitas, Calif.) added nine kills at a .391 percentage. Senior setter
Brittney Pinzon (Fullerton, Calif.) recorded a match-best 24 assists, while junior
Claire Hyun (Issaquah, Wash.) dished out 11 helpers and was one of two Mariners with a match-high three service aces along with senior
Juliet Vendl (Colorado Springs, Colo.).

The Mariners had a big presence at the net tonight, as they put down a total of 10 blocks and didn't hit into any for Mount St. Vincent. Sophomore middle
Amy Jones (Roscoe, Ill.) and Smith both led the way with three assisted blocks each.

For the Dolphins, seniors Samantha Schroeder and Lindsay DeBoer both had a team-best six kills apiece, while classmate Madison Gale had 20 assists. Senior libero Olivia Kane tied Gilbertson with a match-high of nine digs.
