KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 28, 2021) – The USMMA men's soccer team saw its winning-streak come to an end on Tuesday night with a 2-0 home loss to conference opponent Farmingdale State at Bartoszek Field. The setback drops the Mariners' record to 6-5 (3-1 Skyline), while the Rams improve to 5-3 (3-0 Skyline) in victory.
Â
Neither team found the back of the net in the first half, with shots pretty even at 6-4 in favor of Farmingdale, but the Rams also held a 4-0 advantage in shots on goal. Junior keeper
Chase Miller (Boise, Idaho) kept all four out.
Â
In the second half, FSC really applied pressure and out-shot the Mariners 14-9, including an 8-3 lead in shots on goal. The Rams broke the stalemate in the 62nd minute on a tally by freshman Erick Maldonado and then just over 20 minutes later junior Michael Lanouette doubled the visitors' lead to help seal their win.
Â
The Mariners' three shots on goal all came in the second half produced by seniors
Abram Ehrhorn (Papillion, Neb.) and
David Kelly (Lutherville, Md.) as well as freshman
Aden Knight (Ocean Springs, Miss.). However, Farmingdale's sophomore keeper Justin Silva kept all three out to preserve the blank sheet.
Â
The Mariners are back in action this Saturday, Oct. 2, when they travel up to the north Bronx to take on Skyline opponent Mount St. Vincent. Kickoff is scheduled for 12-noon at the Dolphins' Athletic Field at Marillac. Any live links for the game will be posted on
