Later in the set, the Knights were up three, 22-19, but Merchant Marine finished with six-straight points to earn the victory, including two kills by Smith and an ace by Pinzon to close it out.

After the Mariners won the second set convincingly, 25-16, despite a late rally attempt, Mount St. Mary broke away late in the third set – with the scored knotted up at 19-19, the Knights went on a 6-2 run to earn the set victory and force a fourth set.

USMMA scored the first six points of the fourth set, but Mount St. Mary fought back to within just one at 9-8. From there, it was almost all Mariners, as they rattled off a 16-2 run, including scoring the last nine points to come away with the conference win.

For the Knights, junior Grace Riddle had a match-high 20 kills, while classmate Fran Cammarata recorded 29 assists to lead all players and senior libero Alyssa Barbara picked up a match-best 15 digs.
