KINGS POINT, N.Y. (April 17, 2021) – The USMMA men's lacrosse team won in convincing fashion on Senior Day, 21-3, over visiting Mount St. Vincent on Saturday afternoon in Skyline Conference action at Brooks Stadium. The win improves the Mariners' record to 3-1 (3-1 Skyline), while the Dolphins fall to 0-2 (0-2 Skyline) with the loss.

Before the game, the Mariners paid tribute to their 10 graduating seniors with a special Senior Day ceremony honoring
Ian McClintock (St. Augustine, Fla.),
Liam Connors (Bellmore, N.Y.),
Kyle Buser (Babylon, N.Y.),
Tristan Kelehan (Elkridge, Md.),
Nick Alberici (Auburn, N.Y.),
Mike Morsberger (Catonsville, Md.),
Brendan Kane (Lewes, Del.),
Derek Ferguson (Newnan, Ga.),
Shannon Byrne II (Severna Park, Md.) and
Michael Carbone (Hamilton, N.J.).

In the game action, Morsberger had a career-day, leading all players with nine points on four goals and five assists, and on his final tally of the day in the third quarter he became the latest Mariner to reach the 100-career point plateau. For his career, Morsberger has recorded 60 goals and 40 assists in 51 games.

He wasn't the only senior to have a big day, as Alberici continued his hot-streak with an eight-point effort on three goals and five assists. Four other Mariners had multi-point afternoons – junior
Matt Groom (Bethpage, N.Y.) with two goals and three helpers, freshman
Sam Winkler (Moorestown, N.J.) finding the back of the net four times, freshman
Maverick Geller (Hood River, Ore.) with a goal and an assist and McClintock with two goals.

A total of 13 different Mariners found the scoresheet on the day with one goal apiece coming from juniors
Jack Browne (Summit, N.J.) and
Zach Hasbrouck (Greenvale, N.Y.), as well as freshmen
James Dotsikas (Jacksonville, Fla.),
Connor Pitts (Dallas, Ga.) and
Charlie Ross (Lakewood, Colo.); and assists coming from Carbone and Ferguson, his first-career point.
Pitts won 16-of-21 face-offs in the game, while also leading all players with nine groundballs. Freshman defender Dom Mirack (Stevensville, Md.) scooped up six GBs, while junior Jason Aiello (Northport, N.Y.) led all players once again in caused turnovers with four. Merchant Marine used three goalies on the day, with Byrne II getting the start and earning the victory after making one save in the first half. Kane played the third quarter and didn't allow a goal while making one stop, and freshman Coby Schwartz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had one save in the final 15 minutes in his collegiate debut.

For the Dolphins, freshman Jacob Cochran scored twice, while junior Patrick Nagy had the visitors' other tally. In net, sophomore Sawyer Davis suffered the loss despite making 16 saves in three quarters. Freshman Dylan Gunther finished out the fourth and had two stops.
