KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Oct. 6, 2021) – Seven different players scored and nine had at least one point in the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy's 7-0 home victory over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Wednesday night at Bartoszek Field. The victory improved the Mariners' record to 8-5 (5-1 Skyline), while the Bears fall to 2-5-1 (0-3-1 Skyline) with the loss.
Senior
Abram Ehrhorn (Papillion, Neb.) led USMMA with three points on a goal and two assists. It was his tally that opened the scoring in the 16th minute that stood as the game-winner. The six other Mariners to find the back of the net were freshmen
Maximilian Farris (Clayton, Ga.) and
Jason Healey (King George, Va.), juniors
Jack Remark (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and
Connor Damaré (Slidell, La.), freshman
Derek Vanasse (Camarillo, Calif.) and sophomore
Miguel Millan (Lake Travis, Texas).
Merchant Marine also got assists from senior
David Kelly (Lutherville, Md.) on Ehrhorn's goal, Vanasse on Farris' in the 28th minute, Ehrhorn on Healey's in the 32nd minute, freshman
Mark Sommer (St. Louis, Mo.) on Damare's in the 41st minute, and Ehrhorn again on Vanasse's at exactly 54 minutes.
Two USMMA keepers combined for the shutout victory, with junior
Chase Miller (Boise, Idaho) earning the decision after facing one shot on goal and turning it away. Sophomore
Ashton Carey (Pasadena, Md.) finished the final 34-plus minutes and turned away two St. Joseph's shots.
