SAYVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 30, 2016) – The USMMA women's cross country team came in fourth place out of 12 teams at the 2016 Skyline Conference Championship Meet on Saturday, held at the Broadway Avenue Park out in Suffolk County. The Mariners scored 94 points at the event.
 
Freshman Briana Broccoli (Herndon, Va.) came in second place in the women's 6K race, as she crossed the finish line in 24:46.69. She was the top freshman to finish, so she was crowned the Skyline Rookie of the Year, as well as landing on the All-Skyline First Team with a Top-7 finish.
 
Classmate Sophia Tucker (Navarre, Fla.) earned a Second Team honor (Top-14 finish), as she came in eighth place with a time of 25:26.56.
 
Freshmen Anna Lewis (Lakehead, Calif.) and Valerie Bowman (Newark, Ohio) were the next two Mariners to finish, with Lewis coming in 23rd place in 27:00.75 and Bowman crossing in 27:18.83, which was good for 27th place.
 
Junior Maché Mason (Dallas, Texas) was the last Mariner to score with a 34th-place finish with a time of 28:12.58.
