November 13, 2010 Football Drops Heartbreaker in Season Finale vs. RPI, 29-27 KINGS POINT, N.Y. – With two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, sophomore wideout Richard Lyons (Virginia Beach, Va.) of the United States Merchant Marine Academy football team ran for a 38-yard touchdown to put the Mariners ahead, 27-26, over the Engineers of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). In heartbreaking fashion however, RPI drove down the field in the remaining couple of minutes and set up a 29-yard field goal, which senior kicker Peter Nilson (Appleton, Wis.) successfully nailed to give the Engineers a 29-27 lead as time expired on Saturday afternoon at Captain Tomb Field in Kings Point, N.Y.

November 6, 2010 Gosselin’s Big Day Leads Football Past League-Foe Union, 28-21 SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – On Saturday afternoon, sophomore running back John-Leon Gosselin (Nashua, N.Y.) put together a three-touchdown, 201-yard day to help the United States Merchant Marine Academy football squad defeat Liberty League-opponent Union College, 28-21, at Frank Bailey Field in Schenectady, N.Y. With the victory, the Mariners improved to 4-5 overall and 3-2 in the league. Following the loss, the Dutchmen fell to 2-6 on the year and 2-4 in the conference.
October 23, 2010 Football Falls to Liberty League-Foe Hobart, 40-33 KINGS POINT, N.Y. – On Saturday afternoon, the United States Merchant Marine Academy football team dropped a conference contest against Hobart College, 40-33, at Captain Tomb Field in Kings Point, N.Y. With the victory, the Statesmen improved to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the Liberty League. Following the defeat, the Mariners fell to 3-5 on the year and 2-2 in conference play.
