 Before USMMA: Thomson earned four varsity letters in both baseball and football at St. George's High School.  He was named All-Region, All-City, and "Best of Preps" in both baseball and football.  Thomson all participated in baseball and football all-star games.  He also graduated as a member of the honor roll.
