Before USMMA: Foley was a three-year member and captain of the baseball team at Shady Side High School.  He also won letters in football (3x), basketball (1x), and wrestling (1x).  Foley was named his team's most improved player as well as being an All-Section shortstop.  He was a member of four straight conference championship teams and a 2008 WPIAL Championship squad.  On the football field, Foley earned a scholarship awareded by the Allegheny Football Conference.
