BRONX, N.Y. (Sept. 16, 2026) – Junior
Lauren Enterline (Harrisburg, Pa.) gave the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's soccer team a second-half lead, but Mount St. Vincent scored in the 87th minute as the Mariners settled for a 1-1 draw in their Skyline Conference opener on Wednesday night. USMMA moved to 0-0-3 overall (0-0-1 Skyline), while the Dolphins moved to 1-2-1 (1-0-1 Skyline).

Mount St. Vincent generated the first scoring chance less than a minute into the contest, but junior keeper
Eva Fields (Williamsburg, Va.) turned aside an attempt from Nadine Padilla. Michelle Zuniga then hit the woodwork in the 13th minute before Fields denied her seconds later. Fields added two more saves on Zuniga in the 26th and 35th minutes to keep the game scoreless.
The Mariners registered their first shot on goal in the 38th minute when senior
Ainsley Carlon (Gilbert, Ariz.) was denied by UMSV goalkeeper Kaitlyn Grady. Mount St. Vincent held an 8-1 advantage in shots in the opening half, but Fields made four saves to send the teams into halftime scoreless.
USMMA began to generate more opportunities after the break. Sophomore
Stella Newman (Columbus, Ohio) put an attempt on net in the 57th minute that was stopped by Grady, and the Mariners finally broke through in the 64th when Enterline found the back of the net for her first goal of the season to give Merchant Marine a 1-0 advantage.
The Mariners had a chance to add to their lead in the 78th minute, but Grady denied sophomore
Lucy Thomas (Alexandria, Va.). Fields then answered with a save on Cameron Cruz less than a minute later to preserve the 1-0 advantage. Mount St. Vincent finally found the equalizer with just 3:20 remaining as Zuniga scored off a feed from Cruz to make it 1-1.
The Dolphins finished with a 17-5 advantage in shots and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks. USMMA put four of its five shots on goal, while Mount St. Vincent finished with seven shots on target.
Fields finished with six saves for the Mariners, while Grady made three stops for the Dolphins.
The Mariners return to action on Saturday, Sept. 19, when they travel to Yonkers, N.Y., to take on Sarah Lawrence at 3 p.m.
