CHESTER, Pa. (May 11, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's and women's track & field teams competed Monday at the Widener University Final Qualifier. The Mariners registered a pair of top 10 finishes and five personal bests on the day.

Senior Ben Rini (Vermilion, Ohio) led the Blue and Gray in the throwing events with a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 14.43m (47' 4.25"). Sophomore Garrett Rees (Rising Sun, Md.) added a sixth-place finish in the men's discus with a toss of 43.06m (141' 3") and posted a personal-best in the hammer throw with a mark of 45.55m (149' 5").
In the distance events, senior Silas Glynn (Folsom, Calif.) registered a personal-best time of 1:54.03 in the 800 meters. Sophomore Ethan Alliot (Sheridan, Wyo.) posted a personal-best time of 10:13.47 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Senior Luke Zwiesler (Colbert, Wash.) PR'ed in the 5000 meters clocking in with a time of 14:55.65.
On the women's side, sophomore Jasmine Predum (Bakersfield, Calif.) highlighted the day with a personal-best of 2.70m (8' 10.25") in the pole vault.
