CLEARWATER, Fla. (March 11, 2026) – On Wednesday morning, the USMMA women's lacrosse team lost its second and final game of its 2026 Spring Break trip, 20-11, to Washington College of Maryland down at the Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex in Florida. The defeat drops the Mariners to 1-2 overall on the season, while the Shorewomen improve to 3-2.

Reese Ripley (Denver, Colo.) had a standout game for the Mariners, recording a team-best five points on four goals and one assist, while also tying for the game-high with four draw controls and three ground balls and causing two turnovers. Junior
Grace Picozzi (Collegeville, Pa.) added four points on the day (3G, 1A) and freshman
Sarah Litz (Westminster, Md.) registered a hat-trick with a trio of goals.
Three other Mariners had two points apiece, as junior
Leslie Wysong (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) scored a goal and dished out one helper and sophomore
Lana Hayes (Toms River, N.J.) and freshman
Isabelle Perry (Atlanta, Ga.) both had two assists each. Ripley, Wysong and sophomore
Amber Fields (St. Augustine, Fla.) all finished the day with two caused turnovers apiece.
Senior goalie
Karianna Eagle (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) made three saves in over 48 minutes of action.
Washington opened the scoring early and built a 3-0 advantage before the Mariners responded midway through the first quarter. Ripley put USMMA on the board at the 9:37 mark, and Wysong followed less than 20 seconds later to cut the deficit to 3-2. After the Shorewomen extended their lead, Picozzi finished a feed from Hayes to make it 6-3 with just over three minutes remaining in the quarter. Washington closed the period with a late goal in the final seconds to take a 7-3 lead after one.
Washington carried that momentum into the second quarter and extended its lead with a series of goals, including several on free-position and man-up opportunities, to build a double-digit advantage by halftime. The Shorewomen added three more goals early in the third quarter before the Mariners answered with consecutive tallies from Ripley, including a man-up score, to trim the margin. Washington added another goal to open the fourth before USMMA continued to find offense down the stretch with goals from Ripley, Picozzi, and Litz, but the Shorewomen maintained control to secure the 20-11 result.
Washington was paced offensively by Piper Evans and Mia Salvatierra, who each recorded seven points. Evans finished with five goals and two assists, while Salvatierra added four goals and three assists. Malery Andrews also scored four goals for the Shorewomen, and Anna Wilson contributed three goals and an assist. In goal, Maddy Kissinger earned the win with five saves in 56:34, and Washington also received strong draw control performances from Wilson and MaryCate Anson, who each recorded four.
The Mariners are back in action one week from today on Wednesday, March 18, when they travel up to New London, Conn., to take on arch-rival Coast Guard. Opening draw is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Bears' Cadet Memorial Field.
