SPRINGFIELD, Mas. (Feb. 29, 2020) – Two U.S. Merchant Marine Academy divers represented the #17 Mariners at the NCAA Diving Regional Meet the last two days up at Springfield College, as junior Gillem McMillan (Knoxville, Tenn.) and freshman Armand Hebert (Chicopee, Mass.) were looking to qualify for the NCAA National Championships at the event.
McMillan earned a pair of eighth-place finishes on both boards. On Friday in the three-meter dive competition, he scored 435.85 points, and he followed that up with 414.85 on the one-meter board on Saturday. With his placings, McMillan is an alternate for Nationals.
Hebert finished 14th in the one-meter with a score of 396.75, and was 16th in the three-meter with a 385.65.

Up next for the Mariners, the seven swimmers who qualified for Nationals will continue training until the NCAA National Championships, March 18-21, in Greensboro, N.C.
