BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (Dec. 3, 2019) – The #22 USMMA men's swimming & diving team picked up two Skyline victories over Sarah Lawrence and Purchase on Tuesday night up at SLC's Campbell Center Pool. With the wins, the Mariners' record improves to 3-0 (3-0 Skyline).
Due to a computer issue at Sarah Lawrence, official results from the meet are not available at this time. The complete results will be linked on the USMMA Men's Swim & Dive Schedule Page when they are available.
The Mariners won 10 events on the night, beginning with the 200 medley relay and ending with the 400 freestyle relay. Individually, freshman William Schneider (Canton, Ohio) won both the 50 free and the 100 free.
Merchant Marine also got victories from freshman Jack Pellegrino (Cape Coral, Fla.) in the 200 free, junior John Cairns (Durham, N.C.) in the 200 individual medley, senior Maximilian Haubrich (Grayslake, Ill.) in the 200 butterfly, freshman David McCranie (Woodbridge, Va.) in the 200 backstroke, freshman Davis Caldwell (Isle of Palms, S.C.) in the 500 free and senior Michael Moore (Los Alamos, N.M.) in the 200 breaststroke in a season-best time by one second.
Two other Mariners earned season-bests on the night, senior Matthew Stegen (Mandeville, La.) in the 200 backstroke and junior Steven Rothe (Tucson, Ariz.) in the 200IM by three seconds.
Up next, the Mariners will travel to Ewing Township, N.J., this weekend to take part in the three-day TCNJ Invitational beginning on Friday.
