Prior to coming to Kings Point, Kobilansky served as an assistant coach at his alma mater New York University for nine seasons from 2013-14 to 2021-22, working mainly with the team’s middleweights.

At NYU, Kobilansky helped the Violets amass a 118-43 (.733) dual-meet record and capture six University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships. He helped develop 15 All-Americans and the Violets finished as high as 12th place at the NCAA Championships (2015).

Kobilansky and the rest of the NYU coaches were selected as the UAA Coaching Staff of the Year twice in 2016-17 and 2021-22.

A 2007 NYU graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance, Kobilansky was a four-year member of the wrestling team. One of the Violets’ most decorated wrestlers, he was inducted into the NYU Athletics Hall of Fame in May 2018. He compiled 118 career victories, the fourth-highest total in program history. Kobilansky recorded 64 wins at 141 pounds is the most ever by an NYU grappler in that weight class, while his 48 victories at 149 pounds is the third-highest total.

During his NYU career, Kobilansky earned UAA Rookie of the Year honors and then UAA Most Outstanding Wrestler accolades as a senior. He was a three-time NWCA Scholar All-American and UAA All-Academic honoree, an 11-time UAA Athlete of the Week selection and was the first three-time NCAA Championships qualifier in NYU program history.

A native of Kyiv, Ukraine, Kobilansky was raised in Rochester, N.Y., and resides in Port Washington, N.Y.
