BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Jan. 19, 2019) – The USMMA women's basketball team never trailed in its 57-41 road, Skyline Conference victory over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Saturday at the Bears' Hill Center. With the win, the Mariners improve to 13-1 (9-1 Skyline), while SJC falls to 11-6 (8-3 Skyline) in defeat.
Three players scored in double-figures for the Mariners, with junior Kaleigh D'Arcy (White Plains, N.Y.) draining a game-high 17 points. Freshman Lauren Hunter (Tinley Park, Ill.) recorded yet another double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while classmate Julia Dahlke (San Diego, Calif.) contributed 12 points.
Junior Taylor Hightower (White Plains, Md.) had a solid day with eight points, game-highs in three categories - 13 rebounds, six assists and five steals – and four blocks. Classmate Shelby Peters (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) added seven points and 12 boards.
For St. Joe's, junior Lauren Quesada and senior Victoria Porcasi both scored 11 points. Quesada tied for the team high in rebounds with sophomore Kelly O'Donnell, as the pair both had eight apiece. O'Donnell also chipped in with nine points and a game-high five blocked shots.
The Mariners are back in action this coming Wednesday, Jan. 23, when they play host to Skyline opponent Sarah Lawrence College. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Liebertz Gymnasium.
