MILTON, N.Y. (Sept. 16, 2018) – On Saturday, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's cross country team competed in and won the 11th Annual MSMC Knight Invitational up at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Ulster County. The Mariners finished with a combined team score of 71 points, nearly half of the next-best team, hosts Mount St. Mary, who finished with 135 points. Fellow Skyline opponent SUNY Maritime rounded out the top-three with 154 points.
Freshman Lucas Jordan (Littleton, Colo.) was the Mariners' first finisher in the 8K race, as he crossed the finish line in seventh place with a time of 29:24. Senior Connor Cole (Alpharetta, Ga.) was next for Merchant Marine, coming in 13th place (11 points) in 29:56. Freshmen Aodhan Meyer (South Kingston, R.I.) and Nicholas Arima (Honolulu, Hawaii) finished in 18th (16 points – 30:12) and 20th (17 points – 30:24), respectively. Sophomore Patrick Porch (Halstead, Kan.) was the fifth and final Mariner to count towards the team score, coming in 23rd (20 points) with a time of 30:27.

The Mariners return to action on Saturday, Oct. 13, when they compete in the 19th Annual St. Joseph's-L.I. Invitational at Sunken Meadow Park in Kings Park, N.Y.
