Goretoy & Collins Place Fourth & Fifth, Respectively, In Weight Throw At ECACs


NEW YORK (March 2, 2019) – The USMMA men's indoor track & field season came to an end on Saturday with a pair of Mariners competing in the 2019 ECAC Division III Championship Meet. Sophomore Ivan Goretoy (West Warwick, R.I.) and senior David Collins (North Kingstown, R.I.) both qualified for the regional championship meet in the weight throw event through earlier meets this season. 

Goretoy came in fourth place in the weight throw on Saturday with a toss of 14.99 meters, earning five team points for Merchant Marine. Collins was right behind in fifth place with a mark of 14.77 meters, good for four points towards the team score.

The Mariner men have now concluded the indoor season. The next meet on the schedule is the outdoor season-opener later this month, the Ursinus Invitational on Saturday, March 23, in Collegeville, Pa.
