KINGS POINT, N.Y. (April 6, 2026) – The USMMA baseball team extended its winning streak to three games with a 10-2 victory over St. Elizabeth on Monday evening at Bartoszek Field. The Mariners improve to 10-6 on the season, while the Eagles fall to 3-19 overall.

How It Happened
The Mariners got off to a fast start with a three-run bottom of the first inning. Junior Landon Troutt (Fairfield, Calif.) ripped an RBI double to give the Blue and Gray an early 1-0 lead, then moments later, senior Charles Cahalan (Overland Park, Kan.) delivered a two-run single to stretch the Kings Point advantage to 3-0.
St. Elizabeth responded with a run in the top of the second inning on an RBI double before adding another in the top of the third on an error to cut the deficit to one, 3-2.
Merchant Marine answered in the bottom of the third inning when Cahalan came through again with an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-2. USMMA added some insurance in the sixth inning as freshman Davin Fulton (Houston, Texas) delivered an RBI single to make it 5-2.
KP broke the game open in the seventh inning with a five-run outburst. Sophomore Luke Kruer (Sellersburg, Ind.) started the rally with an RBI triple, then stole home moments later. Freshman Axel Prechel (Corvallis, Ore.) added an RBI on a sacrifice fly, and sophomore Braden Vazquez (Missouri City, Texas) capped the scoring with a two-run single to help the Mariners capture the 10-2 victory.

- The Mariners posted their second straight double-digit hit performance and seventh of the season.
- Merchant Marine had three players register multi-hit games, with Cahalan leading the way with three. Junior Christian Gamez (Kent Island, Md.) and Kruer posted two hits each, while Troutt, Fulton, and freshman Thomas Byrne (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) had one apiece.
- Cahalan led the Blue and Gray with three RBIs, while Vazquez had two. Troutt, Kruer, and Fulton each drove in one run.
- Cahalan, Fulton, Kruer, and freshman Ryan Melton (Newnan, Ga.) each recorded a stolen base in the contest.
- Freshman Luke Sems (Oronoco, Minn.) went three innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out four batters. The Mariners' bullpen was flawless over the final six innings. Freshman Baxter Hamilton (Sugar Land, Texas) earned his second win of the season, allowing just one hit and no runs. Senior Eddie Lippert (Deer Park, N.Y.) and sophomores Louis Inserra (Coplay, Pa.) and Travis Campbell (Alba, Texas) each tossed scoreless innings with one strikeout apiece. Senior Caden Pierce (Marietta, Ga.) closed out the game with a scoreless ninth, allowing one hit and recording a strikeout.
