(April 22, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's tennis team earned a 7-0 Skyline Conference victory over Mount St. Vincent at the Brooks Stadium Courts on Wednesday afternoon. The Mariners improved to 8-3 overall (6-1 Skyline), while the Dolphins fell to 1-8 (0-7 Skyline).

USMMA secured the doubles point by sweeping all three flights. Freshmen
Travis Boyd (Phoenix, Ariz.) and
Travis Filer (Conroe, Texas) opened play with a 6-0 win at #2, before sophomore
Fredrich Buquel (Mission, Texas) and junior
Brent Mathews (Williamsburg, Va.) followed with a 6-1 victory at the top flight. Sophomore
Yohani Cortes (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and junior
Lena Lewis (Williamsburg, Va.) completed doubles action with a 6-1 win at #3.

In singles play, Merchant Marine recorded straight-set wins across the lineup. Mathews was first to finish with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #1, and Filer followed with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at #6. Junior
Alex Lewis (Williamsburg, Va.) added a 6-0, 6-0 decision at #5 to clinch the team win for the Mariners.

Buquel followed with a 6-0, 6-2 result at #2. Freshman
Keegan Dutton (Temple, Texas) earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #3, and classmate
Zach Diep (Oxnard, Calif.) closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #4.

The Mariners return to action on Saturday, April 25, when they host Manhattanville at noon in Kings Point.
