Mariners Celebrate Senior Day With Sound Shootout Win Over Rival SUNY Maritime

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (April 18, 2026) – The USMMA women's lacrosse team extended its winning streak to eight games with a 23-1 victory over Skyline rival SUNY Maritime on Senior Day in the annual "Sound Shootout" at Brooks Stadium. The win improves the Mariners to 9-3 overall and 7-0 in conference play, while the Privateers fall to 2-8 (2-5 Skyline).

Prior to opening draw, Merchant Marine paid tribute to its graduating seniors with a special Senior Day ceremony honoring Keira Collins (Sayville, N.Y.), Nicole Nagengast (Seaford, N.Y.) and Karianna Eagle (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J.).

Game Links Junior Leslie Wysong (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) led all players with a career-high 10 points on five goals and five assists while also controlling eight draw controls to go along with four caused turnovers and six ground balls. Junior Grace Picozzi (Collegeville, Pa.) added nine points on six goals and three assists while pacing the Mariners with a game-high 11 draw controls and contributing three caused turnovers and five ground balls.

Freshman Sarah Litz (Westminster, Md.) recorded six points (3G, 3A), while sophomore Reese Ripley (Denver, Colo.) added four goals. Sophomore Lana Hayes (Toms River, N.J.) posted four points (2G, 2A), and sophomore Isabelle Perry (Atlanta, Ga.) chipped in a goal and an assist. Nagengast and Collins, both defenders, put the cherry on top of their Senior Day with fourth quarter goals. For Collins it was the first of her career.

Defensively, sophomore Meghan Shippos (Bow, N.H.) and junior Juliet Trouse (Riverdale, N.J.) each recorded three caused turnovers. In goal, senior Karianna Eagle (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) earned the win.

SUNY Maritime received its lone goal from Paige Grider on a free position attempt. In net, Hannah Honor made 10 saves for the Privateers.

The Mariners return to action on Tuesday, April 21, when they travel to Purchase, N.Y., to take on Manhattanville in the regular season finale. Opening draw is scheduled for 7 p.m.
