STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Feb. 6, 2026) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's track & field team competed Friday afternoon at the Fastrack National Invite at Ocean Breeze. The Mariners put up a strong showing, highlighted by a top-five finish and several runners posting multiple personal bests on the afternoon.

Freshman Scott Ford (Baltimore, Md.) had USMMA's top performance of the meet with a second-place finish in the men's long jump with a personal best mark of 6.60m (21' 7.75"). Ford also put up another personal best in the men's 200 meters with a time of 23.52.
Senior Elijah Ramthun (Bozrah, Conn.) recorded a personal-best time of 2:02.73 in the men's 800 meters. Freshmen Arjun Suresh (Plainsboro, N.J.) and Cooper Johnson (Honolulu, Hawaii) both registered two personal bests each in the men's mile and the 3000 meters. Suresh clocked in with times of 4:34.86 and 9:32.86, while Johnson finished in 4:43.11 and 9:46.10.

Senior Luke Zwiesler (Colbert, Wash.) finished 15th with a time of 8:57.05 in the men's 3,000 meters, and freshman Enois Maceira (Monroe Township, N.J.) registered a personal best in the event with a time of 9:47.32.

Freshman Mackay Minter (Townsend, Ga.) recorded personal bests in the men's 400 meters and 200 meters with times of 51.77 and 23.46. Senior Karsten Peters (Cromwell, Conn.) turned in a personal-best time of 11.67 in the men's 60-meter hurdles.

Sophomore Nicholas Troiano (Burlington Flats, N.Y.) rounded out the day for KP, recording a personal-best mark of 11.59m (38' 0") in the weight throw.
Merchant Marine returns to competition on Friday, Feb. 20, at 1 p.m. at the Fastrack Last Chance Invitational.
