Farmingdale State opened the scoring 45 seconds into the evening, but Merchant Marine quickly answered with a goal from Barcus a minute later. However, the Rams promptly retook the lead another 60 seconds after the Mariners had tied the game.
USMMA allowed a third goal just past the nine-minute mark, but the Mariner defense stood tall afterward. They allowed just four more shots from Farmingdale over the rest of the quarter but could not find the back of the net themselves.
Behr pulled the Mariners within a goal thanks to his marker two minutes into the second period. But from there, both sides dialed up the defensive intensity. The Rams finally broke that run with 4:30 left in the half, and they added one more goal with 90 seconds remaining to take a 5-2 edge into the break.
Out of the intermission, William Badeer (Pittsburgh, Pa.) tucked in a third Mariner goal to make it 5-3 in favor of Farmingdale. The Rams quickly pushed the lead back to three goals 45 seconds later, then added another goal around the eight-minute mark. Barcus capitalized on a man-up opportunity with six minutes remaining in the quarter, but FSC closed the third with a three-goal run to head into the fourth up 10-4.
Farmingdale opened the fourth quarter with another 3-0 run, quickly extending their advantage to 13-4. Kings Point did manage three goals late in the frame, but it was ultimately not enough, as the Rams secured a Skyline title with a 14-7 victory.
