Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men’s Lacrosse Can’t Overcome Halftime Deficit, Falls At Farmingdale State, 18-11

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (April 9, 2025) – The USMMA men's lacrosse team lost its road Skyline Conference contest at Farmingdale State College, 18-11, on Wednesday at FSC's Rams Field. The setback drops the Mariners' record to an even 5-5 (2-1 Skyline), while Farmingdale improves to 10-2 (2-0 Skyline) with the victory.

Game Link The game was pretty even throughout, except for the Rams using a 6-1 second quarter to build up a 9-4 halftime lead. That proved to be too much for Merchant Marine to overcome. Even though the Mariners battled the entire second half, they couldn't find that run to get back into the game.

Total shots were narrowly in favor of Farmingdale, 40-37, with USMMA actually holding a 25-24 advantage in shots on goal. The Mariners were a perfect 11-for-11 on clears, while the Rams were 17-for-20. FSC picked up more ground balls (42-33) and won more face-offs (20-13), though, to help contribute to their win, and their goalie finished the game with 14 saves.

Sophomore Owen Behr (Vestavia Hills, Ala.) recorded a team-high five points on two goals and three assists, while senior Jack Collins (Memphis, Tenn.) tallied four points with one goal and three helpers. Freshman Landon Locke (Midlothian, Va.) tallied a hat-trick and three other Mariners registered two points each - junior Owen Barcus (Annapolis, Md.) and senior Michael Emerick (Damascus, Md.) with two goals apiece, and junior William Badeer (Pittsburgh, Pa.) with one goal and one assist.

Defensively, junior Michael Valentine IV (Massapequa Park, N.Y.), sophomore Jake Rossman (Apple Valley, Minn.) and freshman Julian Lopez (Lancaster, Pa.) all tied for the game-high with two caused turnovers each. Freshman William Schipfer (Colorado Springs, Colo.) picked up a team-best five ground balls and senior Chris Neuman (South Huntington, N.Y.) won nine face-offs and he and freshman Tucker Kuhn (Towson, Md.) secured four GBs apiece.

In goal, sophomore Julian Garcia (Lakeway, Texas) made three saves in over 38 minutes, while two more Mariner goalies – junior Tucker Swinerton (Weston, Fla.) and sophomore Joseph Montazella (Lyme, Conn.) combined for three saves the rest of the game.

Farmingdale was led by senior Tyler Kollar, who had a game-high six points on five goals and one assist. Classmate Andrew Giovinco added five points (4G, 1A) and four other Rams recorded multi-point nights. Senior Antonio Kaminskey won 19 face-offs and led all players in the game with 11 ground balls and senior goalie Dan Erler earned the victory with his 14 saves.

The Mariners return to the friendly confines of Tomb Field this Saturday for their Senior Day game against St. Joseph's-Long Island beginning at 11 a.m. The ceremony to honor their 10 graduating seniors will begin at approximately 10:45 a.m. and can be viewed at this link.
