PURCHASE, N.Y. (April 26, 2025) – The USMMA men's lacrosse team secured the #2 seed in the upcoming Skyline Conference Tournament with a commanding 26-1 road victory at Purchase on Saturday. The Mariners close out the regular season with a 9-5 (6-1 Skyline) record, while the Panthers end the year 3-12 (0-7 Skyline).

Stellar offensive performances from sophomore
Brendan Ring (Philadelphia, Pa.), senior
Charlie Wahlin (Stafford, Va.) and junior
Owen Barcus (Annapolis, Md.) propelled Merchant Marine to the victory, as Ring finished with a career-high eight points (5G, 3A), Wahlin upped his career-best from earlier this season to seven points (3G, 4A) and Barcus added five points (3G, 2A). Seven other Mariners recorded multi-point efforts and five more on top of that had at least one point.
Senior
Chris Neuman (South Huntington, N.Y.) was a perfect 12-for-12 from the face-off X with a game-high nine ground balls. The Mariners won 27-of-29 draws on the day, with junior
Adam Johnson (Canton, Ohio) (4-for-4) and freshman
Tucker Kuhn (Towson, Md.) (3-for-3) also boasting perfect 1.000 percentages.
In addition to his four goals, senior
Jack Meyer (Sandy, Utah) also ranked second on the team with five GBs, while classmate
Aidan Coleman (Killingworth, Conn.) and Kuhn both picked up four loose balls apiece. It was actually the attackman Ring who led the way for Merchant Marine with two caused turnovers.
In net, sophomore
Julian Garcia (Lakeway, Texas) earned the win after a scoreless first quarter. Junior
Tucker Swinerton (Weston, Fla.) made five saves over the next 21 minutes and sophomore
Joseph Montazella (Lyme, Conn.) finished out the final 24 minutes by making three stops.
Junior Kevon Joseph notched the only goal of the game for the Panthers. Classmate Brendon Truex picked up a team-best three ground balls and sophomore Cameron Savoca led all players on the afternoon with four caused turnovers.
Up next, the #2-seed Mariners will host rival and #3-seed SUNY Maritime this coming Tuesday night, April 29, for the semifinal round of the 2025 Skyline Conference Championship Tournament. Opening face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Brooks Stadium.
