Mariners Outlast Farmingdale State To Clinch #1 Seed In Skyline Tourney

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (April 25, 2025) – The USMMA women's lacrosse team took down the visiting Farmingdale State Rams, 12-10, in the regular season finale on Friday night to cap off a perfect conference slate and head into the Skyline Tournament with the top seed and home field advantage. Kings Point ended the regular season 11-2 (8-0 Skyline), while the Rams went 8-8 (7-1 Skyline).

Game Link Senior Lauren Jablonowski (Levittown, N.Y.) buried five goals to lead all players and sophomore Grace Picozzi (Collegeville, Pa.) had a hat-trick. Classmate Leslie Wysong (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) was a key facilitator with three assists, while junior Karianna Eagle (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) made 12 crucial saves in net.

Freshman Reese Ripley (Denver, Colo.) tied for the game-high with five draw controls and also led all players with five ground balls.

Picozzi scored just nine seconds into the first quarter, as Merchant Marine got out to an excellent start in the regular season finale. Jablonowski picked up her first goal of the night a couple minutes later, then added a second goal later in the period to give KP a 3-0 edge. Freshman Amber Fields (St. Augustine, Fla.) made it a four-goal lead later in the frame, then Picozzi buried a second goal to make it five straight from USMMA to begin the game. Farmingdale State was able to snap the run with a goal at the two-minute mark, but KP led 5-1 after the first quarter.

The Mariners were able to extend their lead to 8-2 halfway through the second quarter, with goals by Jablonowski, Ripley and senior Gianna Russo (Wake Forest, N.C.). Merchant Marine allowed just one more goal from FSC in the final seven minutes, as they took an 8-3 advantage into halftime.

The third quarter took on a much more defensive tone, with just one goal coming from Farmingdale State in the first 10 minutes of the frame, which trimmed the USMMA lead to 8-4. Later on, the Rams scored twice in roughly 90 seconds to get within a couple goals. But Lana Hayes (Toms River, N.J.) tucked in a goal with just 18 seconds left in the period.

Farmingdale tallied an early goal in the fourth quarter to trim the deficit to 9-7 Mariners, but Picozzi had a response shortly after that to reestablish a three-goal lead for Kings Point. Jablonowski then added another marker herself to make it 11-7 USMMA.

Farmingdale State brought the fight to Merchant Marine throughout the fourth quarter, getting the deficit to two goals on two separate occasions, but KP held tough to secure a 12-10 win. The victory gives USMMA the #1 seed in the Skyline tournament, with a perfect 8-0 record in conference play.

The Mariners will now wait on the result of the St. Joseph's-Long Island and Mount St. Mary first round matchup, with the winner coming to Tomb Field for the Skyline Semifinals on Thursday, May 1. More information on the upcoming Skyline Tournament will be posted on www.USMMASports.com and our social media pages (links below) in the coming days.
