KINGS POINT, N.Y. (March 26, 2025) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Gwynedd Mercy, 18-2, on Wednesday night at Tomb Field in their last non-conference tune-up before Skyline action begins this weekend. The victory improved the Mariners' record to 3-2, while the Griffins fall to 2-9 in defeat.

Lauren Jablonowski (Levittown, N.Y.) scored the first goal of the game just over a minute in and it was the 100th tally of her career. She finished with four points on two goals and two assists. Classmate
Gianna Russo (Wake Forest, N.C.) led all players on the night with seven points, scoring once and dishing out six helpers.
Sophomore
Leslie Wysong (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) and freshman
Reese Ripley (Denver, Colo.) both had five points apiece, as Wysong scored four goals and registered one assist and Ripley found the back of the net a career-best five times. Like Jablonowski, sophomore
Grace Picozzi (Collegeville, Pa.) and freshman
Lana Hayes (Toms River, N.J.) recorded four points each. Picozzi had two goals and two assists, while Hayes tallied one goal and dished out three helpers. Freshman
Amber Fields (St. Augustine, Fla.) produced two goals and in her first game of the season back from sea, sophomore
Ainsley Carlon (Gilbert, Ariz.) scored her first career goal (in lacrosse).
Wysong secured a game-high eight draw controls, while Hayes and freshman defender
Juliet Trouse (Riverdale, N.J.) led all players with five ground balls apiece. Hayes also recorded a game-best five caused turnovers, with Trouse and Wysong causing three TOs apiece. Junior
Karianna Eagle (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) made three saves to record the victory in net.
Freshman Elena Colliluori and sophomore Ava DeMarco recorded the two goals for the Griffins, while senior Alysia Collins added an assist. Senior Cheyenne Avellino had a team-high four draw controls and two caused turnovers and Collins picked up three GBs to lead the team. Sophomore goalie Nikki Williams suffered the loss after making six saves in over 40 minutes of action. Classmate Victoria Sloan came in for over 19 minutes between the pipes and finished with two saves.
The Mariners open up Skyline Conference action this Saturday, March 29, with their annual 142 game against Manhattanville University. Opening draw is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Brooks Stadium.
