Luke Zwiesler (Colbert, Wash.) powered the Mariner effort with a pair of top 10 finishes, as the Blue and Gray combined for six top 10 results along with a pair of personal bests.
Meet Results
USMMA was dominant in the men's 3,000 meters, placing six runners inside the top 10. Zwiesler led the pack, finishing fourth in 9:06.00, while senior Casey Symons (Harrington Park, N.J.) took sixth in 9:38.65. Freshman Arjun Suresh (Plainsboro, N.J.) placed seventh in 9:44.47, and senior Elijah Ramthun (Bozrah, Conn.) PR'ed finishing eighth with a time of 9:53.57. Senior Ben Anastasoff (Litchfield Park, Ariz.) crossed ninth in 9:56.19, and senior Alex Virostek (Silver Lake, Ohio) capped the top 10, crossing the finish line in 10th with a time of 10:10.30.
Zwiesler also carried the torch for the Blue and Gray in the men's mile, posting his second top 10 finish of the day with a sixth-place finish and time of 4:29.64. The Mariners also had four runners come across in the top 20 as Symons placed 13th in 4:45.34, just ahead of Suresh in 14th with a time of 4:45.45. Ramthun and Anastasoff both registered personal bests in 19th and 20th, with times of 4:52.14 and 4:52.42, respectively.
Sophomore Tommy Tan (Norfolk, Va.) paced the Mariners in the 60 meter hurdles, securing a ninth-place finish with a time of 10.36. Sophomore Holden Collier (Mount Vernon, Wash.) opened his season with two personal best marks, running 7.72 seconds in the 60 meters and 38.45 in the 300 meters.
Merchant Marine returns to action next weekend at the Seahawk Shootout, hosted by Wagner at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island, N.Y, at noon.
