KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Dec. 10, 2025) – Three members of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy football team were recognized on D3football.com's All-Region 1 Teams on Wednesday, as senior
Cole Baiamonte (Arabi, La.) was selected to the second team as a guard and sophomore quarterback
Bubba Mustain (Oro Valley, Ariz.) and senior tight end
Ben Rini (Vermilion, Ohio) both garnered third team accolades.
Â
Baiamonte, a four-year starter at offensive line, was a pillar of the Mariners' front five that helped the squad attain the fifth-best rushing offense in the nation with 238.8 yards per game. He earned First Team All-NEWMAC honors after allowing zero sacks throughout the campaign and earning a player grade of 99. The offensive line also helped the team to the 14th-best fourth-down conversion in Division III and created time for the Mariners to pass for 912 yards on just 52 completions in the triple option.
Â
Mustain currently ranks 11th in the nation with 127.1 rushing yards per game, 18th with 15 rushing touchdowns and 28th in scoring with 9.2 points per game. He was a First Team All-NEWMAC selection after finishing the season with 1,271 rushing yards with 15 TDs on the ground and 889 passing yards (on 51-of-103 passing) with nine touchdowns in the air.
Â
Rini hauled in 13 passes for a team-best 239 receiving yards and found the end zone three times throughout the season. The All-NEWMAC Second Team honoree provides more than just the numbers for the Mariners, as his role as a tight end is comparable to having a sixth offensive lineman, helping lead to crucial blocking for the run-heavy offense.

Baiamonte, Mustain and Rini helped lead the Mariners to an 8-2 record in 2025, including a dramatic, one-point Secretaries' Cup victory over Coast Guard at Fenway Park on the last week of the regular season and a three-point win over Curry in the Fusion Bowl the following week. It was the program's fifth appearance in a bowl game since the 2017 season.
