KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Nov. 22, 2025) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's basketball team defeated visiting St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, 76-48, on Saturday in Skyline Conference action at the Liebertz Gymnasium. With the victory, the Mariners improve to 3-1 (2-0 Skyline), while the Bears fall to 4-2 (0-2 Skyline) in defeat.

Four different players scored in double-figures for the Mariners, as senior
Hannah Ramsden (Port Aransas, Texas) led the way with a season-high 20 points to go along with six rebounds and four steals. Junior
Emily Grasseler (Millbrook, N.Y.) and sophomore
Carolae Barton (Waldorf, Md.) both registered double-doubles, as Grasseler finished with 18 points and a game-high 12 rebounds and Barton added 16 points (on 70-percent shooting) and 11 boards. Sophomore
Breanna Sommers (Casa Grande, Ariz.) rounded out the Mariners with double-digit scoring, as she had a solid game all around with 13 points, four boards, three steals and two assists.

Jaden Lodice (Littleton, Colo.) led all players in the game with five assists, while also bringing down five rebounds, and classmate
Tatum Carney (Fairfax, Va.) contributed five points off the bench.
USMMA settled in after an early 3–0 deficit, using interior scoring from Barton and Grasseler along with active defense from Sommers to grab control of the opening quarter. Steady stops and a late push that included baskets from Sommers and Grasseler helped the Mariners close the period on a 15–2 stretch to take a 19–8 lead.
The momentum carried into the second quarter as Lodice sparked the offense with a layup before Ramsden and Barton added to the run. USMMA continued to generate points in the paint and force turnovers, with Grasseler and Sommers contributing on both ends as the lead grew to 40–20 by halftime.
USMMA maintained full control coming out of halftime, responding to an early St. Joseph's push with scoring from Sommers, Ramsden, and Grasseler to keep the margin near 20. The Mariners continued to win possessions through offensive rebounds and defensive stops, with Barton and Sommers adding key baskets as the lead stretched to 55–34 at the end of the third.
The fourth quarter followed the same pattern, as Ramsden and Barton converted early chances before Grasseler and Carney added to the scoring balance. USMMA's depth closed out the game with steady defensive pressure and efficient transition play, allowing the Mariners to cruise to a 76–48 final
USMMA shot 43.2 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from three while holding St. Joseph's to 29.0 percent overall and 7-of-29 from beyond the arc. The Mariners controlled the glass with a 54–33 rebounding advantage, turning 19 offensive boards into 17 second-chance points. They also outscored the Bears in the paint 36–16 and generated a 20–7 edge in points off turnovers, building a lead that reached 28 points late in the fourth
St. Joe's had three players scored in double-figures with Kristen Donovan leading the way with 14, Mercedes Perez adding 11 and Nikki Grech draining 10 to go along with a team-high seven rebounds.
Up next, Merchant Marine travels to Farmingdale State on Tuesday night, Nov. 25. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Rams' Lynch Sports Center Gymnasium.
