ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. (May 10, 2023) - The United States Merchant Marine Academy men's lacrosse program could not get its offense in gear during their NCAA First Round matchup at St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday, falling to the host Seahawks, 10-5, to end their championship season.

A pair of seniors led the way in their final contest as Mariners with Carter Hall (Annapolis, Md.) leading the team with three points, all on goals, while Samuel Stephenson (Boca Raton, Fla.) snagged a dozen saves for a 54.5% stop rate, his ninth double-figure save tally of 2023 and his 11th time saving more balls than he allowed past.

Michael Valentine IV (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) notched a season-best three caused turnovers to pace the club as Michael Hofstetter (Deer Park, N.Y.) had the other forced mistake not credited to the team as a whole.

The trio of Dom Mirack (Stevensville, Md.) (5), Chris Neuman (South Huntington, N.Y.) (4), and Mark Bredeck (Severna Park, Md.) (3) made up more than half of the Kings Point's ground ball totals.

Other student-athletes to produce points were Jack DeTommaso (Massapequa, N.Y.) with a pair of assists, Jack Collins (Memphis, Tenn.) and William Badeer (Pittsburgh, Pa.) with a goal apiece, and Michael Emerick (Damascus, Md.) dishing out a single assist.

The Blue and Gray ended the year with a 10-7 (.588) record on top of a 6-1 (.857) Skyline mark during the regular season. It was Merchant Marine's first ten-win season since 2019.
