OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Oct. 25, 2023) – Despite scoring the first two goals of the game in the opening half, the USMMA men's soccer team had to settle for a 2-2 tie against Old Westbury on the road Wednesday night after the Panthers stormed back with two quick goals in the second half to tie the score. The draw moves the Mariners' record to 6-4-8 overall (5-0-6 Skyline), while the Panthers close out the year with a 4-9-2 record (2-7-2 Skyline).

Andrew Jung (Fairfax, Va.) in the 15th minute and junior
Derek Vanasse (Camarillo, Calif.) in the 25th minute put Merchant Marine ahead 2-0 and they finished the opening half with an 8-2 advantage in shots.
The second half was a complete reversal, as the Panthers came out firing, out-shooting the Mariners 15-5 in the frame and finding the back of the net twice in the 58th and 61st minutes to tie the score up.
The hosts kept the pressure in the final 30 minutes of the game, trying to find the game-winner, but OW's five shots on goal were all turned aside – four by senior keeper
Ashton Carey (Pasadena, Md.) and one by a defender.
Carey finished with those four saves, while his counterpart, freshman Andy Chacho made three saves for the Panthers.
