BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Jan. 16, 2023) – Just two days after earning a 46-point win over Old Westbury, the USMMA women's basketball team notched a 44-point victory at non-conference opponent Medgar Evers College on Monday night, 90-46. The last time the Mariners scored 90 points in a game was 15 years ago, on Jan. 22, 2008, in a 91-22 win over New Rochelle. The victory improved Merchant Marine's record to 13-2, while the Cougars fall to 2-11 with the loss.

Senior Lauren Hunter (Tinley Park, Ill.) recorded her third 30-point game of the season as she led all players in the contest with 34 points as part of a double-double effort after also tying for the game-high with 12 rebounds. Sophomore McKenzie Cassingham (Shasta Lake, Calif.) added a career-high 12 points (10 coming from the free-throw line), and freshman Cevyn Crutcher (Huntsville, Ala.) chipped in with a career-high of her own with 10 points.
 
Sophomore Kaira Winston (Chesterfield, Va.) dished out 12 assists and had eight steals, while senior Madison Demos (Downers Grove, Ill.) tied Hunter for the game-high with 12 rebounds.
 
Freshman Jennifer Metra had a team-best 16 points for Medgar Evers and classmate Sheily Quezada added 13. Fellow freshman Camaya Sealy brought down eight boards to lead the Cougars.
 
Up next, the Mariners will travel to Manhattanville College on Thursday night, Jan. 19, for a huge showdown with the Valiants. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Manhattanville' Kennedy Gymnasium.
