KINGS POINT, N.Y. (April 30, 2022) – The USMMA women's lacrosse team didn't allow even a shot on goal and all four seniors found the back of the net, as the Mariners defeated visiting Purchase College, 23-0, Saturday in Skyline Conference action on Senior Day at Brooks Stadium. The win closes out Merchant Marine's regular season with an 11-2 overall record, including a perfect 7-0 Skyline mark, while the Panthers end the year 1-10 (0-7 Skyline).

Senior
Jessie Wohner (Norfolk, Va.) broke her own program-record for points in a game (which she set earlier this season) by having a hand in 14 of the Mariners' 23 goals on the day. She scored six times and also dished out a program-record eight assists. She led all players in the game with six caused turnovers and scooped up seven groundballs.

All three other seniors got on the scoresheet as well, with
Helen Davis (Dagsboro, Del.) recording her first-ever hat-trick with three goals and one assist,
Maddie Schmidt (Mechanicsville, Va.) adding one tally and one helper and
Emily Abe (Arnold, Md.) finding the back of the net for the first time in her career.

The Mariners got two goals apiece by juniors
Phoebe Cho (Fairfax, Va.) and
Jaqui Sheedy (Baltimore, Md.) as well as sophomore
Kaitlyn Latchaw (Phoenix, Md.). Sheedy and Latchaw also dished out one assist each, and Sheedy registered a game-high nine groundballs and eight draw controls, while also causing five turnovers.

Also finding the twine on the afternoon were juniors
Jenna Turrentine (Kennesaw, Ga.),
Julia Coughlin (Rockville Centre, N.Y.),
Meghan Malone (Crofton, Md.) and
Jacqueline Radcliff (Orlando, Fla.), while sophomore
Brittany Breland (Bryan, Texas) and freshman
Hannah Barnes (Chillicothe, Ohio) both scored their first-career goals.

In goal, juniors
Hope Germanakos (Lynbrook, N.Y.) and
Jessica Gamsjager (Denton, Texas) split the game evenly, with Germanakos playing the first half and Gamsjager the second, and neither were tested with shots on goal. The two Purchase shots by senior Katie Borger (one in the first quarter and the other in the fourth) both went wide left of the cage.

For the Panthers, goalie junior Casandra Schmoger made 12 saves and the led team with eight groundballs. Borger had a team-high four draw controls and freshman Analie Ingalsbe caused three turnovers.
