Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Feb. 27, 2022) – The USMMA baseball team was firing on all cylinders Sunday to take both ends of a double header at Bartoszek Field against the Wells Express. The Mariners put up 13 runs in the first two innings of the day en route to a 13-0 shutout in the opener before piling up even more runs in a 19-2 victory in the second game. Senior Brayden O'Connell (Beaver Dams, N.Y.) notched the Mariners first home run of the season with an inside the park trip around the bases to cap the first game's scoring.

Game 1 Highlights

• Freshman Jacob Syversen (Land O'Lakes, Fla.) tossed five innings of shutout ball, allowing just one hit and striking out seven, to pick up the win
• The Mariners stole 6 bases, including three from freshman Derek Vanasse (Camarillo, Calif.)
• USMMA secured four triples, one each from O'Connell, sophomore Tyler Reistetter (Dickinson, Texas), junior Jared Chambers (Houston, Texas) and freshman Travis Leatherwood (Catonsville, Md.)
• Sophomore Kellen Brown (Fort Pierce, Fla.) led the team with three RBI

 
Game 2 Highlights

• Reistetter took the mound and struck out 11 batters over six innings to pick up his first victory of the season
• Senior Noah Herdman (Naperville, Ill.) went 5-for-5 with four runs scored and 3 RBI while being only a homer short of the cycle
• Seven different Mariners registered at least one RBI
• Wells scored the first run of the game in the first but USMMA answered right back with four runs in the bottom half of the frame
• The Mariners put up another eight run inning on the day, this time in the sixth inning, capped by an RBI triple from Herdman
