NEWBURGH, N.Y. (Oct. 11, 2022) – On Wednesday night, the USMMA women's soccer team lost its road, Skyline Conference matchup to Mount St. Mary College, 4-1, at the Knights' Kaplan Field. The defeat drops the Mariners' record to 6-5-1 (1-5-1 Skyline), while MSMC improves to 4-9-2 (4-3-1 Skyline) with the win.

The Knights scored the game's opening tally in the 10th minute, but sophomore
Jinae Teria (Chalan Pago, Guam) got the equalizer just 13 minutes later off an assist by freshman
Emma Cox (Huntingtown, Md.).
The momentum didn't last long, however, as Mount St. Mary regained the lead less than a minute after, and then further extended its advantage to 3-1 before the half was over.
MSMC added one more in the second half on a 59th-minute tally to close out the scoring.
The Mariners were outshot 25-11 on the night, including an 18-5 advantage in shots. Sophomore
Margaret Ripperger (McKinney, Texas) was forced to make a career-high 13 saves on the night, while the Knights' sophomore keeper Caroline Brucato had four stops in the victory.
Up next is a rivalry match up at home against SUNY Maritime College this Saturday, Oct. 15. The game will serve as the second meeting with a point in the standings for the inaugural Tomb Trophy on the line.
