Women’s Soccer Falls To Mount St. Mary On The Road, 4-1

NEWBURGH, N.Y. (Oct. 11, 2022) – On Wednesday night, the USMMA women's soccer team lost its road, Skyline Conference matchup to Mount St. Mary College, 4-1, at the Knights' Kaplan Field. The defeat drops the Mariners' record to 6-5-1 (1-5-1 Skyline), while MSMC improves to 4-9-2 (4-3-1 Skyline) with the win.

Game Link The Knights scored the game's opening tally in the 10th minute, but sophomore Jinae Teria (Chalan Pago, Guam) got the equalizer just 13 minutes later off an assist by freshman Emma Cox (Huntingtown, Md.).

The momentum didn't last long, however, as Mount St. Mary regained the lead less than a minute after, and then further extended its advantage to 3-1 before the half was over.

MSMC added one more in the second half on a 59th-minute tally to close out the scoring.

The Mariners were outshot 25-11 on the night, including an 18-5 advantage in shots. Sophomore Margaret Ripperger (McKinney, Texas) was forced to make a career-high 13 saves on the night, while the Knights' sophomore keeper Caroline Brucato had four stops in the victory.

Up next is a rivalry match up at home against SUNY Maritime College this Saturday, Oct. 15.
