YONKERS, N.Y. (Oct. 11, 2022) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's soccer team defeated Sarah Lawrence College on the road, 4-0, on Tuesday night at Fleming Field in Westchester County. With the win, the Mariners improve to 5-4-5 (2-1-4 Skyline), while the Gryphons fall to 5-7-2 (1-5-2 Skyline) in defeat.

USMMA outshot SLC, 22-4, on the night, including a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal.
The Ferry brothers,
Wes and
Will Ferry (Newport, N.C.) bookended the scoring on the night, as Wes tallied what stood as the game-winner exactly 39 minutes into action, and Will knocked home the fourth goal in the 86th minute. Wes' was assisted by freshman
Clayton Ecalono (Pleasant Grove, Utah).
Sophomore
Derek Vanasse (Camarillo, Calif.) scored his first goal of the season in the 73rd minute, as did classmate
Gio Tallini (Westbury, N.Y.) just over four minutes later.
In goal, senior
Chase Miller (Boise, Idaho) made two saves to preserve his fourth solo shutout of the year. His counterpart for the Gryphons, sophomore Kian Silva made nine saves in nearly 80 minutes of action.
Up next, Merchant Marine will host Mount St. Mary this Saturday, Oct. 15, on Senior Day. Prior to the 1 p.m. start, the Mariners will pay tribute to their three graduating seniors and one grad student with a special pregame ceremony.
