NEW PALTZ, N.Y. (Sept. 8, 2021) – The USMMA men's soccer team suffered its third non-conference loss to an Upstate New York school earlier on Wednesday, falling to SUNY New Paltz by the final of 3-1 at the Hawks' South Turf Field. In defeat, the Mariners fall to 1-3, while New Paltz improves to 3-1 with the win.

The hosts scored the first two goals of the game in the opening half after outshooting Merchant Marine, 5-0. Sophomore midfielder Miguel Millan (Lake Travis, Texas) then scored his second goal of season early in the second half to cut the Mariners' deficit to 2-1. The tally was assisted by freshman Jason Healey (King George, Va.).

However, the Hawks answered back on a penalty kick goal just over 10 minutes later to close out the scoring on the afternoon.

Junior Chase Miller (Boise, Idaho) made two saves for the Mariners, while his counterpart for New Paltz, grad student Marc DePasquale didn't face a shot on goal in the affair.

Up next, the Mariners' will host arch-rival Coast Guard on Saturday, Sept. 11, beginning at 12-noon at Bartoszek Field.
