Box Score

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Sept. 2, 2021) – The USMMA men's soccer team opened the 2021 season with a convincing 7-1 victory over Five Towns College on Thursday night at the SUSA Academy Sports Complex out in Suffolk County.

The Mariners had six different players score a goal and a total of eight players on the scoresheet throughout the 90 minutes. Freshman Jason Healey (King George, Va.) led the Mariners with four points after he found the back of the net twice in his debut, while classmate Wesley Cooke (Mobile, Ala.) added three points with one goal and one assist.

Sophomore Miguel Millan (Lake Travis, Texas) opened the scoring in the third minute, before freshman Maximilian Farris (Clayton, Ga.) doubled the lead in the 14th minute. In the 24th minute, senior Cole Blake (Parker, Colo.) corralled a loose ball off of a scramble just inside the top of the box and fired low into the left side to make it 3-0. The last two goals of the first half came three minutes apart, Healey's first in the 35th minute assisted by both junior Connor Damaré (Slidell, La.) and Cooke, and then Cooke got his first collegiate tally in the 38th minute on a helper by senior Liam Cashmore (Silverdale, Wash.).

Senior Abram Ehrhorn (Papillion, Neb.) scored off a free kick in the 60th minute and Healy closed out the Mariners' scoring with his second in the 63rd minute.

Five Towns' lone goal of the game came in the 64th minute by junior William Rivera.

In goal, junior Chase Miller (Boise, Idaho) earned the victory after making one save in the first half. He was replaced by sophomore Ashton Carey (Pasadena, Md.) in the second half, who went on to make two saves.
