A four-year veteran with the Mariners’ football program, Dean Doe sent percussion waves through the gridiron during his tenure. It began with the first game of his rookie year against rival Coast Guard, when a touchdown in the fourth quarter by Dean gave the Blue and Gray gridders a 10-7 victory. As a junior, Doe was the second leading rusher in NCAA Division-II football after gaining 1,397 yards from scrimmage. At the conclusion of his junior campaign, he became the then-Academy All-Time Leading rusher (2,527) and was named team MVP.
The following year he added 250 yards in his final season to set a new career mark of 2,777 rushing yards. Doe ran for 150 or more yards on four occasions and set a then-Academy rushing record with 254 against Hofstra University. He also set Academy records such as longest non-scoring run from scrimmage (74), most passes caught in a game (13), and most receiving yardage gained in a game (184).
