Landmark Conference Tabs Heilman a Winter Senior Scholar Athlete

KINGS POINT,
N.Y. – The Landmark Conference released its
Senior Scholar Athletes for the 2009-10 winter season. Scott Heilman (
Toms
River, N.J.) of the
U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men’s swimming and diving team was one of the six
athletes named to the group. The honoree must have a cumulative grade point
average of 3.2 or higher and is selected based on his or her accomplishments
and feats in all areas of college life including athletics, academics and other
extracurricular activities. Halbach Records Two Top-3 Finishes at NCAA Diving Championships

MINNEAPOLIS,
Minn. – U.S. Merchant Marine Academy junior
diver Nicholas Halbach
competed in the
NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships this past week at the University
Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn. for the third straight year. Halbach
finished second on the three-meter diving board and placed third on the
one-meter board. In addition, he was twice named an All-American this season.

N.J. - The U.S. Merchant Marine
Academy men’s swimming and diving team finished second overall in team points
with 1,121.5 on Sunday, which concluded the three-day Metropolitan
Championships this weekend at the
Sonny
Werblin
Recreation
Center at
Rutgers
University.
The
College of
New Jersey finished atop the men’s
scoreboard with 1,528 points.
Men’s Swimming Has Incredible 14 Named to All-Conference Squads

N.J. – The Landmark Conference released its
All-Conference teams on Wednesday and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men’s
swimming team saw an outstanding 14 Mariners named to the squads. However, such
a large number should not come as a surprise after Kings Point dominated the conference
championships this past weekend. Murphy Named Landmark Swimmer of the Week

MADISON, N.J. - Senior John Murphy was tabbed as the Landmark Conference Swimmer of the Week after he helped guide the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy to its third-consecutive Landmark Championship. In doing so, the midshipman was named the Swimmer of the Year yesterday.
USMMA Ties #17 Stevens Institute of Technology

The United States Merchant Marine Academy men’s swimming and diving team tied #17 ranked Stevens Institute of Technology this evening, 147-147. The Mariners record goes to 6-2-1 while the Ducks go to 6-0-1.
