USMMA Football Helps Tackle Pediatric Brain Cancer
Jun 3, 2010 - KINGS POINT, N.Y. – On Saturday, May 22, Head Coach Mike Toop and 35 members of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy football team traveled to the Irish Circle in Brooklyn, N.Y. to help one of their “teammates.” Mikey Weinstein, a four-year-old child who has pediatric brain cancer, was adopted in the fall of 2009 before USMMA’s homecoming game against Susquehanna University. Mikey and his family attended the game and helped cheer the Mariners to victory.

Calder Kaatz Named To The ECAC Team
Jan 13, 2010 - Senior Calder Kaatz of the United States Merchant Marine Academy football team was named to the ECAC Team. This is the second year in a row that Kaatz has been selected to the ECAC Team.

Three Mariners Are Named To The All-Liberty League Team
Nov 17, 2009 - Senior Calder Kaatz, Junior Grant Wright and Junior A.J. Hunt of the United States Merchant Marine Academy football team were named to the All-Liberty League Team. Junior Karl Heimbrock, Senior Erick Zuniga and Sophomore Michael Mitchell were selected as Honorable Mentions. The announcement was made by the league office on Tuesday morning.

Nov 14, 2009 - Troy, NY - The United States Merchant Marine Academy football team fell to RPI, 13-10 in a hard fought Liberty League battle. The Mariners defense came up big and was able to shut out the Engineers offense in the second half. Freshman Alex Coviello led the way for the Mariners offense while Chris Adema provided the other spark.

Nov 7, 2009 - Kings Point, NY - The United States Merchant Marine Academy football team fell to Liberty League opponent Union College, 37-6. The Dutchmen were able to hold the Mariners to just 137 total yards of offense. Sophomore kicker Richard Grennen led the way for the Mariners with 23 and 41 yard field goals.
Football Falls To Hobart On The Road
Oct 24, 2009 - Geneva, NY - The United States Merchant Marine Academy football team fell to Liberty League opponent Hobart, 28-0. The Statesmen were able to put one touchdown on the board every quarter in the victory. Junior Karl Heimbrock and sophomore Chris Adema led the way for the Mariners.
