SAYVILLE, N.Y. (Aug. 31, 2018) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's cross country team took part in Skyline Conference opponent St. Joseph's-Long Island's Friends and Alumni Meet on Friday evening out in Suffolk County at the Broadway Avenue Park. The Mariners came in second place at the event.
Accounting for the Mariners' 47 points in the 4K race were freshmen Brooke Jorstad (La Crosse, Wis.) (16:21.3) and Anna Grafton (Belmont, N.H.) (16:26.3) in third and fourth place, respectively, junior Alyssa DeGuzman (Stafford, Va.) in 10th place with a time of 17:27.9, and seniors Monica Keeley (West Hartford, Conn.) (18:45.5) and Erica Lawlor (Stafford Springs, Conn.) (18:55.3) in 19th and 20th place, respectively.

The Mariners return to action next Saturday, Sept. 8, when they participate in Skyline Conference opponent Purchase College's Panther Invitational. First race is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on the campus of Purchase College in Westchester County.
