ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. (Sept. 23, 2017) – The USMMA women's cross country team came in second place at the Bard Raptors Invitational on Saturday in a race filled with tough Skyline Conference opponents. The Mariners (69 points) came in just one point behind invite-winner St. Joseph's of Long Island and finished ahead of 2016 Skyline Champion Farmingdale State (third, 78 points).
Two runners placed in the top 10, as sophomore Anna Lewis (Lakehead, Calif.) paced the Mariners with a sixth-place showing in the 5K race with a time of 19:27 and classmate Carissa Buonerba (Atlanta, Ga.) came in eighth place in 19:31. Freshman Kelly Caubo (Phoenix, Md.) followed in 12th place (20:05) and sophomore Valerie Bowman (Newark, Ohio) crossed in 17th (20:23). Sophomore Alyssa DeGuzman (Stafford, Va.) rounded out the Mariners' top-five scorers with a time of 20:44, which was good for 26th place.

The Mariners are finished competing in the month of September and will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 7, when they travel down to Towson, Md., to compete in former Landmark Conference opponent Goucher's Goucher Classic. Action is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. and the women will run a 6K race.
