USMMA Women’s XC Runs Strong at Fordham Fiasco

Bronx, NY – The Merchant Marine women's cross country team placed sixth out of 11 teams to start its 2013 season this weekend at the Fordham Fiasco this weekend.  Junior Amber Kinter finished 28th in the field of 117 athletes and led all Mariners by completing the 5K in 21:57.32.  Freshman Mary Zehnder was second among USMMA runners in her first collegiate race, taking 45th with a time of 22:32:.23. 

USMMA had back-to-back finishers in 51st and 52nd as Elizabeth Coulter (Thousand Oaks, CA) and Anya Hovanic earned those spots, respectively.  Coulter crossed the tape in 22:45.17, just one second ahead of Hovanic.  The Mariners top-five was rounded out by another rookie as Katie Miller earned 76th place in 24:14.53.

The USMMA women's cross country team returns to action Saturday, September 14 at the CW Post Invitational.
