KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Sept. 26, 2017) – Sophomore Kyleigh Kappas (Parker, Colo.) was named to the Skyline Conference women's volleyball weekly honor roll for her performance in the Mariners' lone match of the week last week, the league announced on Monday. This is the second time that Kappas is being honored by the Skyline, as she picked up Player of the Week honors back on Sept. 5.
Kappas recorded her third double-double of the season in a five-set loss to arch-rival Coast Guard on Thursday night. She led all players in the game by dishing out 27 assists and picking up 18 digs.
The setter currently leads all Skyline players with 8.03 assists per set. Also among the Skyline individual leaders are junior Kate Lefler (Norman, Okla.), who is second with 3.13 kills per set and fourth with a .255 hitting percentage, senior Tichina Carmon (Greenville, N.C.), who is third with 0.94 blocks per set and classmate Dominique Pope (Silver Spring, Md.), who is fifth with 0.69 service aces per set and sixth with 2.75 kills per set.
The Mariners are back in action tonight when they host Skyline opponent St. Joseph's of Long Island. First set is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Liebertz Gymnasium. Live stats and a live video feed of the game will be available with links on the USMMA Women's Volleyball Schedule Page.
