Iain Bradbury Announced as Head Volleyball Coach at USMMA

Kings Point, NY – U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Director of Athletics and Physical Education Sue Petersen Lubow has announced the hiring of Iain Bradbury as the new Head Volleyball Coach.  Bradbury will take the reins of a program that finished 12-17 in 2012.  Bradbury comes to the Academy after serving as the Head Men's Volleyball Coach and Assistant Women's Volleyball coach at Culver-Stockton College.

"We are extremely excited to bring Iain aboard as our Head Volleyball Coach," said Lubow.  "He brings a wealth of knowledge to our program along with a strong family connection to the game.  We look forward to the positive impact he will make on the Academy and the volleyball program."

Bradbury was also an assistant coach at his alma mater, Springfield College, from 2010-11.  During his tenure, the Pride compiled a 65-8 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Division III Elite Eight in 2011.  Bradbury also has high school coaching experience as the Head Boys Volleyball Coach at West Springfield High School from 2010-12 and the Head Girls Volleyball Coach at Macduffie High School in 2009.

"I am honored and appreciative to have the privilege to coach at the United States Merchant Marine Academy," said Bradbury.  "I am looking forward to building the strength, reputation, and overall success of the USMMA women's volleyball program.  I want to personally thank Sue Petersen Lubow for this opportunity; she has an admirable record of devotion to this institution and I am glad to be serving under her leadership and direction."

Bradbury graduated from Springfield College with a Bachelor's degree in Movement in Sports Studies in 2010 and a Master's degree in Physical Education and Sport Performance in May 2012.  The USMMA women's volleyball team is scheduled to begin the 2013 season August 31 at the Kings Point Invitational as the Mariners host Rutgers-Newark, New Rochelle, and Farmingdale State.
