Volleyball falls in final home match of the season, 3-0
KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy volleyball team closed out the home portion of its schedule as it was swept by Baruch College, 3-0, in a non-conference match at Liebertz Gymnasium on Thursday night.
The Mariners (9-15) lost, 25-11, 25-11 and 25-23.
The Bearcats (18-8) took a 5-0 lead in the first game and held an 11-2 advantage in the second encounter.
Kings Point recorded the first four points of the third game and held leads of 18-13 and 23-22 before the visitors rallied to win.
Prior to the match, Merchant Marine senior Kim Glore of Highlands Ranch, Colo. Was honored on Senior Night. Glore has been a great leader and influence on and off the court for Kings Point over the past four seasons.
The Mariners hit the road this weekend for a tri-match in Danbury, Conn. They face Western Connecticut at 5 p.m. on Friday before taking on Wesleyan at 11:30 Saturday, followed by a 2 p.m. encounter against Babson.
