Volleyball team takes two out of three at Maritime Classic

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. -- Kings Point finished second at the second annual Maritime Classic, capturing two out of three women's volleyball matches, this past weekend.

The Mariners lost their first encounter with Maine Maritime, 3-1, on Saturday. But they rebounded to defeat Massachussets Maritime, 3-0, to snap a four-match losing streak, and then and Maritime, 3-0, on Sunday.

Kings Point freshmen Cassandra Palma of Loomis, Calif., an outsider hitter, and Michelle Danhof of Colorado Springs, Colo., the libero, were named to the All-Classic team.

U.S. Merchant Marine (5-4) visits Mount St. Mary at 7 p.m. Tuesday and NYU-Poly at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Mariners return home to host Kean at 1 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a 5 p.m. encounter with Keystone.
