Women's Indoor Track & Field Places Sixth at Landmark Championships

Selinsgrove, PA – The USMMA women's indoor track & field team placed sixth Saturday afternoon at the Landmark Conference Championships.  The distance medley relay team of senior Katie Miller (Valdez, AZ)and three freshman, Amanda See (Waukesha, WI), Lorisabl Santos-Dejesus (Williamsburg, VA), and Mary Zhender (Carle Place, NY) placed fourth with a time of 14:00.16.

Daniella Ciufia (Toms River, NJ) posted one of the Mariners top finishes with a sixth-place performance in the 60 meter hurdles.  The rookie qualified for the finals and notched a time of 10.60 seconds to grab sixth.  Zhender also crossed the finish line in sixth-place, clocking in at 2:36.76 in the 800 meters.  Santos-Dejesus was close behind and took seventh in the race.

Merchant Marine was fifth in the 4x400 relay as the contingent of Santos-Dejesus, Zhender, Ciufia, and Miller stopped the clock in 4:40.98.

The USMMA track & field teams return to action next weekend with any qualifiers for the ECAC Championships.
